Language Week (Again)

Language Week logo

That's what I call good timing: Just over a week ago I wrote about the languages in my CD- and bookshelves. Last night srah sent me a mail informing me of Language Week III. Having already participated in 2003 and 2004 (more 2004) I will obviously aim to participate this year as well.

The week is 4-8 July, which gives me a little bit of time to prepare and think about what to write. And which languages to use. German is obvious, I'll probably give Scots another go (with the help of the dictionary and the book I still haven't used much), if I'm really daring I'll try to dig out the little Plattdeutsch I know. I probably won't bother with French, I've forgotten almost all of what I learned at school 20 years ago (which wasn't much anyway).

Herr Mudie can probably cover a few more languages especially after he mailed me all the languages in his bookshelves:

A quick glance at my bookshelves reveals examples of literature in English, Scots, French, Spanish, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese and German, along with some dictionaries and other language-related books in all these languages plus Basque, Japanese, Russian and Swedish. I thought I had a couple of books in (and about) Italian as well, but I must have left those at my parents' house.

If you're able to write in a language you don't normally write in, please join in, leave a comment or trackback with srah and start writing.
