Link Potpourri
The sun is gone, now it's just warm and muggy. At least it's not as hot as the last few days any more. As it was too hot to blog (at least for me) here are a few links I found interesting and thought I'd share with you:
- While we had some heavy rain and thunder here in Swindon yesterday it was nothing compared to what happened further north early in the week. I suspect this elderly couple will never complain about the "youth of today" after their rescue from a sinking car (I recommend watching the video, quite impressive). Especially the man holding up the car above the water, probably risking his own life.
- I think I might have blogged about this before (can't find it though): When I went to Harris a few years ago I wanted to learn more about Harris Tweed and visited a weaver. Last year I read that Nike was creating trainers using Harris Tweed. And who was providing the tweed? The weaver I had visited a few years before. Looks like Nike was happy with his work as they are back for more. Congratulations Donald John MacKay!
- I have a vague memory this might have been mentioned in The Ileach, four students from Islay are travelling through Ecuador in South America (not entirely sure, it might be with World Challenge Expeditions). Only one entry so far, but they've created a blog for it. I hope there will be further updates soon.
- Unfortunately I can't remember through which blog I found this (a link to a single image made me explore the whole site): David Shrigley, Glasgow Artist, Scotland, UK. In particular some of the photographs are great, e.g. Notice, Hell, Beach Dwellers or Arson.
That will have to do for now. More later, possibly.
