I didn't really have time yet to try out my new toy yet. So far I only managed to go for two evening walks near to where I live. My first walk took me along a disused railtrack which is now a popular footpath along the area known as the Front Garden. Unfortunately the view won't be that nice for very much longer: The are plans to build 4,500 houses in the area. Considering that the area is right next to the busy M4 (I can usually hear it very well when I'm on the old railtrack) and that I've seen the area flooded in places I'm not sure this is such a great idea.
The next walk took me to The Lawn, which used to be the home of the Goddard family for over 350 years (the last Goddard died in 1927, after which the house and area was abandoned). It is now a public park/garden. From Hughes Field in the meadows I had a nice view of Christ Church and a dramatic sunset in the background.
I hope to find the time to take a few more pictures and learn more about the possibilities of the camera over the weekend. If I do I'll probably post some pictures here, at some point I'll probably add some of them to the Swindon & Wiltshire pages on my travelogue site.
