A few interesting links
A few links I found interesting the last few days from a variety of topics:
- Bruce Schneier has an interesting analysis about secret services breaking codes and the other side finding out. Who can you trust to tell the truth here? Fascinating!
- Don't get me wrong, spam is a huge nuisance and creates a lot of unnecessary costs. But I don't get this here: According to this report users "spend nearly 15 minutes every day sifting through an average of 29 unsolicited e-mail messages". Simple maths says they on average spend almost 30 seconds per spam e-mail. I'm baffled. How can it take you 30 seconds to realise that a mail from

is spam and hit the delete button? - More marketing bullshit? The Football League decided that Division One is now going to be called The Championship. Aha. And what will that change, apart from increasing the bank balances of some consultants? Will the games and/or the teams be any better because the now play in "The Championship"? Doubt it.
- Phew, a draw against Holland and apparently a quite decent performance by Germany. That should stop too many comments at work tomorrow. And related: Henrik Larsson, what a player! Too bad that he's leaving Celtic, at least Martin O'Neill is busy signing the future Celtic stars even though he was unable to hold Larsson.
- Hm, don't think I'm going to buy a house any time soon. OK, house price falls have been forecasted for a while now and instead of falling prices have gone up. But somehow I get the feeling that the Bank of England is getting serious now.
- Note to self: American Cousins is available to preorder. I haven't seen it yet, but the website and the trailer look promising and it has been nominated for a Bafta (not sure if it won anything). First found somewhere at The Copydesk, although I can't find the specific entry at the moment
